Renewable Energy Push Drives Supercapacitor Innovations

Tokyo, Japan - NEC TOKIN has developed a breakthrough graphene-enhanced supercapacitor that delivers 3x the energy density of conventional models, targeting wind turbine pitch control systems.

The new ESHG series features:

• 5000F capacity in standard 60mm cylindrical package
• -40°C to +85°C operating range
• 1 million charge/discharge cycles

"Our supercapacitors solve the short-term energy storage challenge in renewable systems," said Dr. Kenji Watanabe, NEC's Energy Storage Lead. "They provide instantaneous power for turbine blade adjustment during wind gusts."

Industry reports indicate the renewable energy capacitor market will exceed $850 million by 2025, with offshore wind applications showing particular promise.
